  A   cognitive map is a mental or visual representation of information, concepts, or knowledge that helps individuals organize, understand, and remember material. It serves as a tool to structure and visualize relationships between different pieces of information, aiding in comprehension and recall. As part of B.Ed curriculum, I prepared 2 cognitive maps , one for Unit 5 in  Plus One Kerala English Reader, and one for Unit 2 in Plus Two English Reader. 

Day 24 started with a morning assembly to commemorate ‘National Moon Day’. There was a role-play to spread awareness on the Chandrayaan-3 mission. HM congratulated us:- student teachers, for coordinating the role- play. In my classes, I conducted an achievement test, to evaluate the students’ overall understanding of the unit ‘Hues and Views’. Majority of students showcased average performance in the test. These tests also revealed areas where students had gaps in their knowledge or difficulties with certain concepts, allowing for targeted remediation and support. On day 25, there was an essay writing and quiz competition held in our school in association with celebrating ‘National Moon Day.’ In my classes, I made my students form groups and write a news report of the shipwreck incident in their story. On Day 20, all the students had to take an oath to declare their active and dynamic engagement in social settings, in association with the commemoration of ‘World Youth Skills Day’. On this day, my optional teacher from college came for observing my class and appreciated me for my use of ICT in classroom. She also gave me suggestions for improvements. During my other periods, I checked and corrected the notebooks of my students. On Day 21, I taught the first few paragraphs of the chapter ‘A Shipwrecked Sailor’s using power point presentation. I also gave the students activity cards, which was to create example sentences for some words that I have taught them during that period. On day 22, I taught some more paragraphs of the story and made students read the portion loudly. It gave me an opportunity to correct their wrong pronunciations and teach them read in the correct pace.   STORY BOARD   As part of my phase-2 teaching practice session, I created a story board for the chapter 'A Shipwrecked Sailor' from eight standard Kerala English Reader textbook. Creating a storyboard involves breaking down the story into key scenes, each represented by a picture and accompanied by a brief text description. This storyboard  helped students visualize the narrative and understand the sequence of events, character actions, and key themes. Day 15 started with a morning assembly. In my classes , I taught the chapter “We’re the World”. I showed meanings of difficult words using flashcards. I then divided the class into various group and asked them to conduct a group recitation of the song in the next class. On day 16, I made the students sing the song. They did their best in trying to resemble the rhythm and tune of the actual song. On day 17, there was some poster making and quiz competitions held in relation to the upcoming World Population Day. I went there and volunteered these sessions. In my class, I made students form groups, discuss and write the answers to the textual questions from the chapter. On day 18, there was morning assemble to commemorate World Population Day. A mime was conducted by the students of tenth grade to spread awareness on the harmful impacts of increasing population.  Day 10 began with a morning assembly, with  some former students  as guests. They donated some white boards to the school and the HM thanked them on behalf of the school. In my classes, I taught the poem “Taj Mahal”. I also showed the profile chart of the author, and provided meanings of difficult words using interesting flashcards. On day 11, I made my students recite the poem in proper rhythm and style. Poetry recitation allows students to explore the emotional and expressive aspects of language. It gives them the opportunity to experiment with intonation, pace, and emphasis, fostering creativity and a deeper connection to the text. On day 12, I taught students simile using examples from classroom contexts. By using examples from the classroom, students see how similes are used in real-life communication and writing, which can encourage them to use similes in their own language. 2nd week of my teaching practice started on a good note with a special assembly being held to honor the famous Malayalam poetess Smt. Sugathakumari, as part of the concluding ceremony of National Reading Week celebrations. Students recited  lines from her famous poems. In my classes,  I taught the rest of the chapter and showed them a power point presentation with pictures related to the chapter. Visual and auditory elements helped in better retention and recall of information.  On day 6, I gave my students a group activity:- to write the script and conduct a role-play involving the priest and the boy from the lesson ‘The Boy Who Drew Cats’. It fostered creative thinking as students invent scenarios and dialogues, making the learning process more engaging and enjoyable. My teaching practice session as part of B.Ed  3rd semester curriculum started on 18 June  2024 in Government Girls’  Higher Secondary School, Malayinkeezh. On the first day, I reached the school at 9: 00 am and took part in the Assembly. After that I met the headmistress Leena ma'am and signed on our attendance register. We were a group of 3 Students. I was assigned with classes 8 C, 8 D, and 8 F. I conducted an ice-breaking session in these classes. It helped me to develop an amiable environment within the classroom and build a rapport with students. On day 2, there was morning assembly to commemorate National Reading Day.
