WORKSHOP

 

The Department of English at PTM College of Education, Trivandrum, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organized a workshop titled "Creative Classroom: English Teaching Aids" on May 24, 2024. This event, part of the College-based Practical Activities (CPA) Phase 3 initiative, aimed to enhance the practical teaching skills of aspiring educators through the use of innovative teaching aids.

The workshop was held at CP Sreekantan Nair Memorial Hall, P.T.M.C.E, starting at 10 AM. It featured Mr. Abhilash R., a highly experienced Higher Secondary School Teacher (HSST) of English from Govt. VHSS Aryanad, Thiruvananthapuram, as the resource person. Mr. Abhilash R. brought a wealth of knowledge and practical insights into the use of teaching aids in the English classroom, making the session highly engaging and informative for all attendees.

The event was coordinated by Mrs. Bindya R. S., Assistant Professor of English and Program Coordinator,  Dr. Renjini U., Assistant Professor of General Education and IQAC Coordinator, and Dr. Anu Krishnan R: General Convenor, Principal, PTMCE & IT. Under their guidance, the workshop focused on the integration of creative teaching aids to foster an interactive and student-centered learning environment.

The main session was led by Abhilash R, a highly experienced HSST English teacher from Govt. VHSS Aryanad. He shared various teaching aids and strategies that can be incorporated into English lessons to make them more interactive and engaging. Key topics covered included: use of multimedia tools in teaching English, incorporating games and activities to enhance language learning,
effective use of visual aids and realia, strategies for fostering student participation and motivation.
Participants were actively involved in hands-on activities and group discussions, allowing them to practice the techniques presented. Abhilash R demonstrated several examples and provided practical tips on integrating these aids into everyday teaching.

Throughout the workshop, participants were introduced to various teaching aids, including visual aids, interactive tools, and digital resources. The hands-on sessions allowed attendees to practice creating and using these aids, fostering a collaborative atmosphere where ideas and experiences were freely exchanged.

The event concluded with a feedback session where participants expressed their appreciation for the practical insights gained. They acknowledged the value of such workshops in their professional development, noting that the techniques learned would significantly benefit their future teaching careers.
