REFLECTIVE JOURNAL-WEEK 2
On day 6 I made the students do the activities of the chapter the happiness machine by dividing them into separate groups. I also ask them to collect and write points for a debate system on the topic 'Is mobile phone a boon or curse'. On day 7 I went to 9 and conducted the debate session on the topic 'Is mobile a phone or curse'. I was the moderator and students contributed and enriched the session with their progressive ideas and sharp arguments. In 8, I taught the remaining portion of the chapter a day in the country using charts and pictures. On day 8, I provided notes for the chapter a day in the country .After that I made the students do an activity from the textbook work session. In 9, I showed the film the happiness machine using ICT students felt really interested in watching the film adaptation of the story. On day 9 I started teaching the poem "A prayer in Spring" in 9th. I used ICT to show pictures of four seasons and asked them questions as part of entry activity. I also used ICT to display the profile chart of Robert Frost the author of the poem. On day 10 I started teaching the poem "My grandmother's house" in 8 .I gave a detailed overview of the life of the poet Kamala Das and explain the context of writing the poem .In 9th I taught the next two chances of the poem "A prayer in Spring". I used flashcard to teach difficult words and used ICT to show pictures related to the poem.
The group activity sessions facilitated collaborative learning strengthening student engagement and promoting enhanced learning experiences. The debate helped to enhance the critical thinking skills of students and increase their confidence in public speaking.
