REFLECTIVE JOURNAL - WEEK 1

 My teaching practice session as part of B.Ed  3rd semester curriculum started on 20th November 2023 in Cotton Hill Girls Higher Secondary School, Vazhuthacaud. On the first day, I reached the school at 9: 00 am and took part in the Assembly. After that I met the headmistress Usha ma'am and signed on our attendance register.we were a group of 3 Students from English optional. I was assigned with classes 8 F and 9 I. I went to 8 F during 4th period and 9 I during 5th period. In both these classes I conducted an ice breaking session which helped me to create a good rapport with students on the second day I went to 9 I and conducted an entry activity regarding the chapter The happiness machine I also showed them a profile chart of the author and explain the first three para on day 3 there was a food fest happening in the school there are many delicious prepared by students and teachers ranging from traditional items like palappam to Chinese. On day four I went to 9th during the 4th period and taught the remaining portion the story The happiness machine using glossary charts and pictures related to the chapter. In 8th I started teaching the chapter Aday in the country by giving students an entry activity and showing them the profile chart of the author. On day 5 I provided notes for the chapter The happiness machine and used ICT to display the answers of important questions in a I used  flashcard and pictures to teach the chapter A day in the country.
I was nervous at first but so was able to overcome attention and convey the meanings and explanations clearly and effectively the class cards and pictures helped me to seek the attention of students and create an interest in the story.

MICRO TEACHING

Microteaching helps build confidence in future educators by allowing them to practice teaching in a supportive and low-stakes setting. With regular practice, teachers can refine their skills and gain confidence in their abilities. I demonstrated the skill of reinforcement during my microteaching  session. I employed various positive reinforcement techniques such as verbal praise, encouragement, and rewards to reinforce desirable behaviors and achievements among my students. It provided me a platform  to receive constructive feedback from peers and instructors. This feedback helped me reflect on my teaching methods and make improvements.

PHASE 2-WEEK 6

Day 24 started with a morning assembly to commemorate ‘National Moon Day’. There was a role-play to spread awareness on the Chandrayaan-3 mission. HM congratulated us:- student teachers, for coordinating the role- play. In my classes, I conducted an achievement test, to evaluate the students’ overall understanding of the unit ‘Hues and Views’. Majority of students showcased average performance in the test. These tests also revealed areas where students had gaps in their knowledge or difficulties with certain concepts, allowing for targeted remediation and support. On day 25, there was an essay writing and quiz competition held in our school in association with celebrating ‘National Moon Day.’ In my classes, I made my students form groups and write a news report of the shipwreck incident in their story.
